    I am interested in locating any information in my family history that shows Native American lineage. I know that my grandmother was named Dorothy Teter born 1/18/1911. She spoke of being a "West Virginia hillbilly" and had a relative named Cecil who remained in the WV area until his death. My g-grandmother was listed as Mary Wilfong and my g-grandfather was listed as David G Teter. I got that info from Dorothy Teter's SS death record.
    I support the belief of Native American heritage because Dorothy Teter had an old photo of family members and one of the persons was a female that she described as a great or g-g grandmother and her features were consistent with Native American features. Hence the need for grandma to explain to the grand children. The story I got was that the woman's mother had been kidnaped during an Indian raid, she became pregnant during her captivity and she and her child were rescued sometime later. The woman in the photo was described as half Native American.

    She was a former member of Riverside Apostolic Church. She and her husband owned and operated Westover Cleaners in the 1950s. She later operated cleaning businesses in Marietta, Ohio, and Cleveland. She was the last surviving member of her immediate fami ly.
