     John Jay Teets II was born on 14 April 1941 in the family home on Meade Street, Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia.^1,3 He is the son of John Jay Teets and Dortha Irene Wilfong.^2,1 John Jay Teets II married Donna Jeanne Raynes, daughter of Calvin Brent "Jay" Raynes and Dorothy Rosabell "Rose" Johnson, on 13 October 1962 in Loch Lynn Heights, Maryland.
     John went to grade school at the elementary school on the corner of Camden Avenue and Kanawa Street, then to Junior High on Camden Avenue, and then Buckhannon-Upshur High School, graduating in 1959 in the first class to graduate from the "new school" in Tennerton (now a Junior High). John's big classes in high school were math and chemistry, and of course, baseball and basketball for the Buccaneers. He drove the "coolest" Ford in town, a 1958 Ford 4-door hardtop with those long 7-foot "Mercury" skirts and a continental kit on the back. He also had to work at his dad's gas station up by Feola's Flowers every weekend for the privilege of driving the car on Saturday night and on other special occasions.

He was named 1st-Team All State Baseball Team in West Virginia in 1958 and again in 1959. Also, John led the good old B-U basketball team in scoring his senior year and was 1st-Team All Conference for the Bucs.

The college scouts from Southern Methodist University (SMU), West Virginia University (WVU), and West Virginia Wesleyan came calling, and John ended up staying in Buckhannon so he could play for Wesleyan Bobcats (actually, in retrospect, John was too "small town" to take on SMU or WVU).

In his college days at Wesleyan, John majored in Math, Physics, and Chemistry, and of course, baseball and basketball (actually, he majored in Donna, but that comes later). John was one of two freshman (the other was Bill Grimes) to make the varsity basketball team in the fall of 1959. That year, the Bobcats ended up 34-1, losing in the semi-finals of the national NAIA basketball finals in Kansas City. John was all-conference West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) for four years in baseball, and was co-captain of the Bobcat basketball team in 1962-63 with Grimes. John was also very proud to be named to the WVIAC 50 year All-Time All Conference Baseball Team. Grimes went on to become the first President of ESPN (yes, the sports channel we can't do without). Guess I turned out to be the small-town guy again...

But the best deal of John's college years was meeting Donna Jeanne Raynes. Donna is the daughter of Jay Brent Raynes (deceased in a motorcycle accident when Donna was 2 years old) and her step-father James Harclerode (deceased 2002) and Rosabell Harclerode who were married for 55 years (Rose later lived with Donna and John in Austin until her death in May 2006.). Donna was born on (can I say this?) April 13, 1944. Yes, John and Donna's birthdays are one day apart! Birthdays were usually celebrated on HER birthday, right? Right. Oh, well.

John met Donna at a dance. Yes, there were such things as community dances where the young folk could get together, talk, dance, and if they were lucky, maybe go for a ride in their parent's car to the local drive-in restaurant and get some pizza pie! Well, John just couldn't stay away from the best-looking B-U cheerleader there ever was! And she could dance like nobody's business!

John and Donna got engaged in his sophomore year (with great consternation from her "dad", because John was a college boy), and married Oct 13, 1962. He asked her for her hand at West's Drive-in movie theater. Awesome.

John III was born in 1963, and John II had to leave a few days after the birth to go play professional baseball in Arvida, Canada (affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates). Donna later arrived with John III by propeller airplane (a big deal back then), her first trip ever in an airplane. We had a great time in Canada that summer, and learned just a little French in the process.

In the fall of 1963, John attended WVU on a Teaching Scholarship (taught College Algebra to undergraduates) which paid $60 a month. He also worked weekends at a filling station (experience from Buckhannon got him the job), and worked evenings 7-12PM at the computer center. We needed the money, and all those odd jobs helped us make it. WVU coach Jim Harrick came after John to be an assistant coach on the baseball team (John had gone 4-0 against WVU in his four years against them). After one year in graduate school, John got a job offer from IBM as a computer programmer, and it surely changed their lives. They moved to Endicott, New York. John worked at IBM in Owego, and later in Endicott. Donna also worked at IBM in Endicott. Shortly after moving to Endicott, Robert (1965), and then Darren and Duane (1969) were born. In 1977, they made the decision to move to Austin, TX with IBM. Will never forget that in 1977, Endicott set the national record for "fewest sunny days" at 43 sunny days (for an entire year!) -- and Austin AVERAGED 304 sunny days every year). That was enough for them!

The Teets lived at 10905 Spicewood Parkway for 23 years, then moved down the street (to #4 at the Spicewood golf course) in December 2000. In February 2007 they moved to 8908 Fairway Hill Drive, which is on #11 on the golf course at Balcones Country Club (you can see where these homes are by looking at this map).They love it there, and can watch the golfers go by every day, and John fiddles with his landscaping (or genealogy) while Donna plays golf with her shiny red golf cart with the fancy top! No one in the entire world loves golf like Donna Teets! She's now famous, you know...she had a hole-in-one in March 2004 on Spicewood #17, 120 yards with a 7-wood! Made the Austin American-Statesman golf column! (guess this is her 15 minutes of fame?).

John Jay Teets II was educated in 1963 in Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia; He attended West Virginia Wesleyan College from 1959-1963, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, with minors in Physics and Chemistry.¹ He was educated in 1964 in Morgantown, West Virginia; He also attended West Virginia University towards a Masters Degree in Mathematics.

     John Jay Teets was born on 3 March 1917 in West Virginia.^2,3,4,5 He was the son of Granville Leslie Teets Sr and Delphia Blanche Stansberry. John Jay Teets married Dortha Irene Wilfong, daughter of James Abram Garfield "Uncle Gart" Wilfong Sr and Martha Ellen Miles, on 22 April 1940 in Monterey, Highland, Virginia.⁶ John Jay Teets died on 12 November 1961 in leukemia, Morgantown, Monongalia, West Virginia, at age 44.^7,8,9 He was buried after 12 November 1961 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia.^10,2,11 (to see where the cemetery is located, see map.)
     Dad was an honorable man, and I was always very proud of his accomplishments. He died too young, of lukemia, at age 44. When he was a young man, he was a painter with his father Leslie Teets Sr. He also was a good carpenter, and he and his dad built our houses on Pocahontas Street, side by side. I remember the pride he had when he was elected City Councilman. He worked typically 7AM-9PM every day at the Esso gas station that he owned/operated, unless someone could help him out (like me, usually). He also had a lot of pride in making a success of that gas station when several others before him had failed financially at that same location. Back then, when you pulled into a gas station, the attendant would wash your windshield and back window, check the air in your tires, check the oil, all before charging you 25 cents/gallon of gas!

     Linda Kay Teets was born on 6 September 1943 in Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia.² She was the daughter of John Jay Teets and Dortha Irene Wilfong.¹ Linda Kay Teets married Gary Warren Martin, son of George A. Martin and Margaret (?), on 13 August 1966 in First Methodist Church, Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia.³ Linda Kay Teets died on 18 February 1995 in McDade, Bastrop, Texas, at age 51.² She was buried after 18 February 1995 in McDade Cemetery, McDade, Bastrop, Texas.¹

     Donna Jeanne Raynes was born on 13 April 1944 in Robson, Fayette, West Virginia.¹ She is the daughter of Calvin Brent "Jay" Raynes and Dorothy Rosabell "Rose" Johnson. Donna Jeanne Raynes married John Jay Teets II, son of John Jay Teets and Dortha Irene Wilfong, on 13 October 1962 in Loch Lynn Heights, Maryland.

     John Jay Teets III was born on 28 May 1963 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia. He is the son of John Jay Teets II and Donna Jeanne Raynes. John Jay Teets III married Tinaka Marie Wright, daughter of Robert Joseph Wright and Cynthia Ann Wacht, on 21 November 1992 in Austin, Travis, Texas.¹ John Jay Teets III and Tinaka Marie Wright were divorced on 28 September 2007.²
     John Jay Teets III was born in Buckhannon, WV on May 28, 1963. His Dad had to leave town four days later to play professional baseball in Canada. John went to elementary and middle school in Endicott NY, and graduated from Round Rock High School. He attended Southwest Texas (now called Texas State University) for one semester, but just wasn't ready for college at that particular time. He later went on to earn an Associates of Applied Science degree in Electronics from Austin Community College.

He later worked for IBM and now works for Motorola (now called FreeScale Technology) as a lead equipment technician.

John met and married Tinaka Wright, and they have two children, Lyndsey Marie and Dylan Jay Teets.

     Robert Allen Teets was born on 25 March 1965 in Binghamton, Broome, New York.¹ He is the son of John Jay Teets II and Donna Jeanne Raynes. Robert Allen Teets married Barbara Ann "Barbie" Hurst, daughter of William "Bill" Hurst and Barbara (?), on 15 August 1987 in Austin, Travis, Texas.¹
     Robert Allen Teets, known to all as Rob, was born March 25, 1965 at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton NY. He attended elementary and middle school in Endicott NY, and Grisham Middle School in Austin TX after Mom and Dad moved to Austin in 1977. He graduated from Westwood High School and graduated with Barbie from Southwest Texas (Now called Texas State) with a degree in Computer Science.

During high school, Rob played basketball, and was a star guard for Westwood. He made Mom and Dad proud as a senior by stealing the ball, driving the length of the court, getting fouled hard by a Round Rock defender who didn't want to see him make a winning lay-up with a few seconds left on the clock...but Rob made both foul shots to win the arch-rival game. Yea!

Rob married his high school sweetheart Barbie Hurst, and they have two children, Taylor Ann and Dana Kay. Rob is a successful Marketing Manager for Intel.

     Darren James Teets was born on 16 November 1969 in Binghamton, Broome, New York.¹ He was the son of John Jay Teets II and Donna Jeanne Raynes. Darren James Teets married Michelle Lynn Befort, daughter of Glenn Alan Befort and Emily Anne Robbins, on 11 September 1993 in Austin, Travis, Texas.²
     Darren James Teets was born November 16, 1969 (two minutes after Duane) at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY. He went to kindergarten and grades 1-2 in Endicott, NY, and then went to Spicewood Elementary after Mom and Dad moved to Austin TX with IBM in 1977.

Darren played baseball all over Texas as a middle school and high school player, finishing his career as a player by pitching for Westwood HS in the Texas high school state championship game in 1987. His mom and dad nearly had several heart attacks watching him play over the years, but they loved it!

During high school, Darren met and later married (thank heavens) Michelle Befort, and they now live in Austin with two children, Haley and Cassidy (a twin brother of Kyle, who died just after birth).

Darren graduated from the University of Texas with a business degree, and is now a Vice President at First American Corporation in Austin. Michelle also graduated from UT with a degree in Interior Design. We used to have fun at Thanksgiving every year watching UT-A&M football games (and still do!).

     Duane Douglas Teets was born on 16 November 1969 in Binghamton, Broome, New York.¹ He is the son of John Jay Teets II and Donna Jeanne Raynes. Duane Douglas Teets married Janice Michele Luce, daughter of James Michael Luce Sr and Vera Jane Aytes, on 11 April 1998 in Williamson, Texas.^2,3
     Duane Douglas Teets was born November 16, 1969 (two minutes before Darren) at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY. He went to kindergarten and grades 1-2 in Endicott, NY, and then went to Spicewood Elementary after Mom and Dad moved to Austin TX with IBM in 1977.

Duane had significant vision challenges as a young man, similar to "lazy eye", which required that he wear special glasses and perform special hand/eye/feet coordination exercises for quite a while. This kept Mom and sometimes Dad on their toes during this period.

He went to college at Texas A&M University, and is (of course) very proud of it. He majored in Psychology, and is now a Counselor at Running Brushy Middle School. We used to have fun at Thanksgiving every year watching UT-A&M football games (and still do!).

Duane met Janice on a dance floor, and they hit it off, and are now married with a large family; Taylor and Hayden Tomlin, from Janice's first marriage, and more recently, Cade and Avery. They enjoy going to Riverbend Baptist Church in Austin, where Janice is a terrific singer at a church with more musical talent than you can imagine (Austin is called the "live music capital of the world", and many of the talented musicians who are Baptist come to church there).

     Calvin Brent "Jay" Raynes was born on 8 June 1922 in Beards Fork, Fayette, West Virginia.^1,2,3 He was the son of Walter Brent Raynes and Emma May Jones. Calvin Brent "Jay" Raynes married Dorothy Rosabell "Rose" Johnson, daughter of William Sidney Johnson and Goldie Arnola Detrick, on 18 May 1940 in Deepwater, Fayette, West Virginia.^4,5 Calvin Brent "Jay" Raynes died on 23 June 1946 in Oak Hill, Fayette, West Virginia, at age 24.^1,6 He was buried after 23 June 1946 in Montgomery Memorial Park Cemetery, London (Montgomery), Fayette, West Virginia.¹
     Calvin "Jay" Brent Raynes was known as Jay to everyone, including his wife Rosabell, and children Gloria and Donna. He died in 1946, but only in 2004 did Rosabell and Jay's children learn that his real first name was Calvin. At this point, no one knows how he got the nickname Jay.

     Donald Adair Lowe Jr was born on 23 August 1939 in Born at home, Brooklyn, Fayette, West Virginia.¹ He is the son of Donald Adair Lowe Sr and Ruth Lee Bocook.¹ Donald Adair Lowe Jr married Gloria Jean Raynes, daughter of Calvin Brent "Jay" Raynes and Dorothy Rosabell "Rose" Johnson, on 12 June 1962 in Memorial Baptist Church, Beckley, Raleigh, West Virginia.^2,1

     Terry Michael Lowe was born on 16 September 1965 in Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, Broome, New York.¹ He is the son of Donald Adair Lowe Jr and Gloria Jean Raynes.

     Christine Lee Lowe was born on 17 November 1969 in Lourdes, Binghamton, Broome, New York.¹ She is the daughter of Donald Adair Lowe Jr and Gloria Jean Raynes. Christine Lee Lowe married Frank Stephen Caslin on 31 August 1991.¹

     Cade Michael Teets was born on 23 August 1999 in Austin, Travis, Texas.¹ He is the son of Duane Douglas Teets and Janice Michele Luce.

     Avery Faith Teets was born on 22 August 2001 in Austin, Travis, Texas.¹ She is the daughter of Duane Douglas Teets and Janice Michele Luce.

     Janice Michele Luce was born on 15 September 1967 in Lakenheath, England. She is the daughter of James Michael Luce Sr and Vera Jane Aytes. Janice Michele Luce married Brian Neil Tomlin, son of Cecil Edward Tomlin and Madelyn Nell McDade, on 26 August 1988; Marriage ended 7/28/1993. Janice Michele Luce and Brian Neil Tomlin were divorced on 28 July 1993. Janice Michele Luce married Duane Douglas Teets, son of John Jay Teets II and Donna Jeanne Raynes, on 11 April 1998 in Williamson, Texas.^1,2

     Brian Neil Tomlin was born on 27 December 1967 in Denton, Texas. He is the son of Cecil Edward Tomlin and Madelyn Nell McDade. Brian Neil Tomlin married Janice Michele Luce, daughter of James Michael Luce Sr and Vera Jane Aytes, on 26 August 1988; Marriage ended 7/28/1993. Brian Neil Tomlin and Janice Michele Luce were divorced on 28 July 1993.

     Taylor Brice Tomlin was born on 8 April 1989 in Austin, Texas.¹ He is the son of Brian Neil Tomlin and Janice Michele Luce.

     Hayden Neil Tomlin was born on 26 July 1991 in Denton, Texas.¹ He is the son of Brian Neil Tomlin and Janice Michele Luce.

     Barbara Ann "Barbie" Hurst was born on 15 September 1964.¹ She is the daughter of William "Bill" Hurst and Barbara (?). Barbara Ann "Barbie" Hurst married Robert Allen Teets, son of John Jay Teets II and Donna Jeanne Raynes, on 15 August 1987 in Austin, Travis, Texas.²
     Barbara Ann "Barbie" Hurst also went by the name of "Barbie."

     Taylor Ann Teets was born on 29 August 1993 in Austin, Travis, Texas.^1,2 She is the daughter of Robert Allen Teets and Barbara Ann "Barbie" Hurst.

     Dana Kay Teets was born on 25 November 1996 in Austin, Travis, Texas.¹ She is the daughter of Robert Allen Teets and Barbara Ann "Barbie" Hurst.

     Michelle Lynn Befort was born on 4 February 1969 in Rochester, Minnesota.^1,2 She is the daughter of Glenn Alan Befort and Emily Anne Robbins. Michelle Lynn Befort married Darren James Teets, son of John Jay Teets II and Donna Jeanne Raynes, on 11 September 1993 in Austin, Travis, Texas.³
     Michelle Lynn Befort was educated in Austin Elementary School.² She was educated in St. Joan of Arc.²

     Haley Nicole Teets was born on 11 March 1997 in Austin, Travis, Texas.¹ She is the daughter of Darren James Teets and Michelle Lynn Befort.

     Cassidy Rayce Teets was born on 18 February 2000 in Austin, Travis, Texas. He is the son of Darren James Teets and Michelle Lynn Befort.

     Kyle James Teets was born on 18 February 2000 in Austin, Travis, Texas. He was the son of Darren James Teets and Michelle Lynn Befort. Kyle James Teets died on 25 February 2000 in Austin, Travis, Texas.¹

     Dortha Irene Wilfong was born on 8 July 1920 in West Virginia.^2,3,4 She was the daughter of James Abram Garfield "Uncle Gart" Wilfong Sr and Martha Ellen Miles.¹ Dortha Irene Wilfong married John Jay Teets, son of Granville Leslie Teets Sr and Delphia Blanche Stansberry, on 22 April 1940 in Monterey, Highland, Virginia.⁵ Dortha Irene Wilfong married Joseph Patrick Hall, son of John William Hall and Augusta de Temple, circa 20 April 1966 in Oakland, Maryland.⁶ Dortha Irene Wilfong died on 14 December 2000 in Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia, at age 80.^7,2,4 She was buried after 14 December 2000 in Buckhannon Memorial Park, Buckhannon, Upshur, West Virginia.^8,4,9 (to see where the cemetery is located, see map.)
     Irene had a miscarriage between 1941 and 1943 while in Baltimore, Maryland when John was working in a shipyard during WWII. They lived in Baltimore from about 1941 to 1946.¹⁰

     Tinaka Marie Wright was born on 2 December 1972 in Greeley, Weld, Colorado. She is the daughter of Robert Joseph Wright and Cynthia Ann Wacht. Tinaka Marie Wright married John Jay Teets III, son of John Jay Teets II and Donna Jeanne Raynes, on 21 November 1992 in Austin, Travis, Texas.¹ Tinaka Marie Wright and John Jay Teets III were divorced on 28 September 2007.²
