    Frederick H. "Jake" Teets, 86, of North Sewickley Twp., passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.
    Born July 30, 1930, in Rochester, a son of the late Herbert Henry and Adelaide (Holman) Teets, he was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army. He retired after 31 years with the former B&W Tubular Steel Co. and also was the owner of Teets Excavating. Jake was a lifetime member of the North Sewickley Volunteer Fire Department and was a former township supervisor for eight years.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen M. (Vogler) Teets, on August 1, 1988; a grandson, Jacob Teets, on May 22, 2009; two brothers, Robert and Donald, and three sisters, Ruth, Pauline and Mildred.

    Surviving are three sons, Dennis F. (Brenda) Teets, New Brighton; Scott A. Teets, Beaver Falls, and Kevin (Sandy) Teets, West Sunbury; one daughter, Janice M. Teets, at home; eight grandchildren, Carrie, Kelly (Jason), Lorena (Chris), Alaina, Justin (Brittany), Nikki (Nathan), Jill (Doug) and Laura; five great-grandchildren, Ayrionna, Nathan, Kensi, Colton and Tyler, and many nieces, nephews and their cousins.
    Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, and Monday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Win Grosclose will officiate.
    Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

    Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the cemetery to provide military honors.
    In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made, in his name, to the Beaver County Special Unit, c/o American Legion Post #580, 600 Pennsylvania Ave., Monaca, PA 15061 or the North Sewickley Volunteer Fire Department.

    He was born Feb. 23, 1987, in Brighton Township, a son of Scott A. Teets, Daugherty Township, and Teresa R. Fuller Teets, Pulaski Township, and her fiance, Len Dougalewicz, Pulaski Township. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army serving as a combat engineer. He was previously stationed in Bagdad, Iraq and Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas. He received his basic training at Ft. Leonardwood, Mo. He was a member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Parish, Rochester. He was a 2005 graduate of New Brighton High School, where he participated in field and track and cross country. Jacob played baseball with the New Brighton Area Baseball League and was a member of the Unionville American Legion.
    In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Alaina J. Teets, Daugherty Township; a brother, Justin A. Teets, Pulaski Township; his paternal grandfather, Frederick H. Teets, North Sewickley Township; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ellen M. Vogler Teets, and maternal grandparents, Frank W. and Jean M. Fromm Fuller.
