[S2693] Obit: Denver Shearl Wilfong, Denver Shearl “Dink” Wilfong passed peacefully on August 6, 2009 at the age of 86, at his Bushnell, Florida home surrounded by his devoted wife, Nancy, and family. Born March 5, 1923 in Norton, West Virginia to Bedford and Mary Trussler Wilfong. He grew up and resided in Rosemont, West Virginia.
    Denver Shearl "Dink" Wilfong
    Dink is a US Navy WWII veteran and a retired Coal Miner of 42 years from Pittston Coal Company. He and Nancy managed a campground/river tubing business in Millville on the Shenandoah River for another 26 years.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nancy Bays Wilfong, their 13 children: Denver Jr. (Brenda), Galloway, West Virginia; Randy (Jeanie), Weston, West Virginia; Mark (Ann), Rosemont; Tim Gerard, Grafton, West Virginia; Joey (Tina) Gerard, Rosemont; Jane (Leonard) Reger, Lakeland, Florida; Barbara Bolton, Weston; Linda Skidmore, Bridgeport, West Virginia; Peggy Wilfong, Springfield, Ohio; Debbie DePolo, Washington, DC; Dawna Conley (Bob Daidone), Palmetto, Florida; Kim (Bryan) Brewster, San Diego, California and Deneise (Raymond) Bray, Bridgeport; two grandchildren they helped raise as their own, Jason DePolo (Indian Rocks, Florida) and Treasa Chidester (Redondo Beach, California), and 21 other wonderful grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great- grandchildren, their pets “Bip”, “BoBo” and “Buttons”; his brothers Bedford Jr. (Belington, West Virginia), John (Flemington, West Virginia); and sisters: Louise Trimble (Rosemont), Nettie Fosselman (Greenville, South Carolina), Shirley Frum (Rosemont), Mary Henley (Dechard, Tennessee), Janet Alexander (Bigfork, Montana); and 38 nieces and nephews.

    He is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Spencer Wilfong; four brothers: Harold, George, Raymond and Charles; and two sisters: Icy Greathouse and Velva Wilfong.

    A 67-year member of UMWA Local Union 1058 and lifetime member of VFW Post 573 Clarksburg, West Virginia.

    For all who knew Dink, he was well-loved for his devotion to his family, his hard work and his hunting and fishing stories. He will be GREATLY missed.

     Charles Richard Wilfong was born on 7 July 1943 in Holly Grove, Upshur, West Virginia.3,2 He was the son of Hoy Wilfong and Wilda Rust Gillum.2 Charles Richard Wilfong married Nancy Darlene Collilns, daughter of Roy L. Collilns and Nancy McCartney, on 29 August 1969 in Tallmansville, Upshur, West Virginia.1 Charles Richard Wilfong died on 19 November 2012 at age 69.3

    Charles Richard "Charlie" Wilfong departed this life Monday, Nov. 19, 2012.
    He was born July 7, 1943, at Holly Grove, to the late Hoy and Wilda Gillum Wilfong of Selbyville.
    Charlie is survived by his fiancee, Levera Hosaflook of Selbyville; one son, Charles James "Jim" Wilfong and wife, Susan Hinzman Wilfong, of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Jaime Wilfong; and one grandson, Thomas Wilfong, both of Martinsburg; five sisters, Madeline and husband, James Barrett, of Mauk, Ga., Lovern and husband, Bennie Campbell, of Stonewood, Josephine Smith of French Creek, Jean Corbin of Naples, Fla., and Linda Wilfong of Chidester, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Wilfong and Hoy Junior Wilfong; and five sisters, Irene Wilfong, Marie Murphy, Maxine Wilfong, Arnetta Chance and Annetta Powers.

    Charlie was a member of the Rock Cave Lodge 81 AF & AM and a lifetime member of the Gold Prospector's Association of America. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army having been disabled while serving his country and was a retired coal miner from Bass Energy in Buckhannon. He was a born again Christian and loved God with all his heart.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to People's Hospice, United Hospital Center, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.

    At the request of Mr. Wilfong, he will be cremated, and a private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
