     Dr. Oscar B. Beer, born near Queen’s, March 27, 1870, son of G. W. and Mary M. Taylor. His father was a soldier of the Civil War and belonged to company M, 3d W. Va. Cavalry (Union). His grandfather, John Beer, came to W. Va. From Clarion County, Pa., just before the Civil War, and located at Sago, where he lived until his death. The subject of this sketch was educated in the public schools of the county and at the Normal and Classical Academy of Buckhannon. He received his medical education and training at the University Medical College, Lebanon, Ohio, Maryland Medical College, Baltimore, Chicago Eye, Ear Nose and Throat College, Chicago, Ill., School of Electro-Therapeutics, Chicago, and New York Post Graduate School and Hospital.

He began the practice of medicine during the summer of 1898, at French Creek, moving to Buckhannon in 1903, where he has permanently located. Married Ada J. Sexton, daughter of Worthy L. Sexton of French Creek. They have one son, Harold S., born August 28, 1900. The doctor is a Presbyterian and a Republican.¹¹
