Mr. Emerson was a member of the Flaming Sword Apostolic Church in East View. He had worked in his younger days in CCC Camps, worked in the coal mines and served for many years as minister of the Meadowbrook Apostolic Church. He had retired from Kelly Miller High School, where he was a janitor.
Mr. Emerson liked to go fishing, watch television, listen to gospel music and do some "preaching."
Friends may call at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street, Clarksburg from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Randy Smith presiding. Interment will follow in Flemington I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Mr. Emerson was also preceded in death by one son, Warren Emerson; one daughter, Lenora Cross; two brothers, Selby Emerson Jr. and Irvan Emerson; three sisters, Betty Jean Herron, Beulah Emerson and Pauline Kenner; two grandsons, Patrick and David Emerson; and a granddaughter, Ashley Emerson.
Mr. Emerson was a member of the Flaming Sword Apostolic Church in East View. He had worked in his younger days in CCC Camps, worked in the coal mines and served for many years as minister of the Meadowbrook Apostolic Church. He had retired from Kelly Miller High School, where he was a janitor.
Mr. Emerson liked to go fishing, watch television, listen to gospel music and do some "preaching."

He was born at Two Lick, WV, February 22, 1922, a son of the late Selby Emerson and Barbara Reed Emerson.
His wife, Luvada Wilfong Emerson, whom he married March 13, 1943, preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Emerson, Lost Creek, WV, and Jessie Emerson, Enterprise, WV; one daughter, Joyce Emerson, San Jose, CA; two brothers, John Emerson, Clarksburg, WV, and Francis "Buddy" Smith, Cleveland, OH; three sisters, Doris Shepherd, Salem, WV, Virgie Sprouse, CA and Norma Ball, Grafton, WV; thirteen grandchildren, Charlotte Lipscomb, Arden, Marsha and Gary Cross, Bobby Jr., Scott and Matthew Emerson, Rodger and Jimmy Enzor, Joseph, Jessica, John Paul and Samantha Emerson; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Jettie, Jennifer, Jonathan, Holly, Gary Jr., Jason, Taylor, Kierra, Danielle, Rebeka, Mason, Christian, Hannah and Noah.
