My CASTEEL line began as follows:
They are a distinguished Flemish family and Captain Edmond du Chastel de Blangerval came to Philadelphia, PA on Sept. 10, 1683.
Then Captain Edmund du Chastel de Blangerval married Christian Boude/Boone in 1693.
She was the daughter of a Swedish immigrant. Edmond Chastel and Christian began Edmund Casteel, II.
They moved from Philadelphia, PA to Piscataway Creek in Prince George’s County, MD.
Edmund Casteel, II married Johanna and they begat Edmund Casteel, III of Casteel Plantation, Piscataway Parish.
Edmund Casteel, III married Rebecca and they begat Shadrack Casteel.
Shadrack Casteel married Laurena and they begat Thomas Casteel born 1750
Thomas Casteel was one of the pioneer settlers of what is now Garrett County, Maryland.
Thomas Casteel married Sarah Ann.
Thomas and Sarah Casteel begat Shadrack Casteel in 1780.
Thomas Casteel the pioneer and his wife are probably buried in the old hall graveyard on “Blooming Rose” tract near the Friend settlement
probably in Friendsville, MD (Garrett County). That is now called the Thomas Fike farm.
Then Shadrack married Elizabeth and they begat Jesse Casteel.
Then Jesse Casteel married Nancy Teets and they begat Thomas Casteel b. March 20, 1845. Jesse Casteel and Nancy Teets and they had 11 children.
Thomas served in the Third Regiment Potomac Home Brigade Infantry from May 1, 1862 to may 29, 1865. This came from “History and Roster, Maryland Volunteers of 1861-1865” Volume 1. Library of Congress #87-082301. Originally published in 1898 in Baltimore, MD and reprinted in 1987 by Family Line Publications. Thomas Casteel is on page 584.
Then Thomas Casteel b. 1845 m. Susan Casteel and they begat Molly Mae Casteel. Thomas and Susan Casteel had 10 children.
Then Molly Mae Casteel married David H. Thomas in July 1907 and they begat Evelyn A. Thomas b. May 15, 1909 and she was their 2nd child
Molly Mae Casteel and David H. Thomas had 7 children and they were my great grandparents on my dad’s mothers side. Molly Mae Casteel Thomas died in 1946.
Evelyn A. Thomas b. 1909 m. John Bernadine Clark and they had 6 children. Their 2nd child is Miles G. Clark b. 1930.
Evelyn died 1998. Bernadine died 1965. Jack died 1992 (their 1st child). Loralli died 2004 (their 5th child). Larry died 2007 (their 3rd child).
