     Henry Wilfong was born in May 1822 in Upshur, Virginia.8,9,10,11,12,13,14 He was the son of Henry Wilfong [Jr.] and Mary Karahoof.7 Henry Wilfong married Catherine "Kate" Mowry, daughter of John Mowry and Nancy Dean, on 9 September 1841 in Augusta, Virginia.15 Henry Wilfong died on 24 October 1906 at age 84.16,9 He was buried after 24 October 1906 in Upshur, West Virginia.9
     From the HISTORY OF THE SAGO COMMUNITY, Prepared By E. R. Grose 1926:

"The Henry Wilfong family settled on the waters of Truby's Run before the Civil War. In this family were several children; namely, George, Samuel Henry, John, Daniel, Columbus, Bilda, Phillip, Abraham, Mary Elizabeth, Loise, Tilda, and Loretta.

Four of the boys, George, Samuel Henry, John, and Daniel, served as soldiers in the Civil War on the Union side. Samuel Henry lost his life in the service of his country.

The family is noted for its industry and has added largely to the development of the Truby's Run locality."17 He was He was a farmer (per the census in 1860, 1870, 1880, and 1900).18 Henry Wilfong was also known as Henry Willfong, per 1880 U. S. Federal Census and Upshur County Cemetery readings.19,13
