She was a member of the Mt. Rupert United Methodist Church.1 Hattie Ruth Melton was adopted.7

    BUCKHANNON - Ruth H. Shreve, 75, of Buckhannon, formerly of Lewisburg, died Oct. 6, 1999, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston.

    She was a native of Elkview, a registered nurse, a homemaker and a member of Mount Rupert United Methodist Church.

    Surviving: husband, Eugene P. Shreve; sons, Dr. Steven of Oakmont, Pa., the Rev. Joseph M. of Weston, Dr. Andrew P. of Santa Fe, N.M.; sisters, Virginia Evans of Spencer, Freda Brady of Daytona Beach, Fla., Helen Neely of French Creek, Alene Slater of Highland, Calif.; brother, Hayes Melton of Jefferson City, Mo.; four grandchildren.

    Service was Oct. 9, 1999, at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, Buckhannon, with the Rev. D. Homer Stewart and the Rev. Donald McCauley officiating. Burial was in the Mount Rupert Church Cemetery, Buckhannon.      "La" was 7 years old when she came to Mom (i.e. adopted by Mont Clarence and Allie). Had a temper as a girl, but sure doesn't now. She and Freda washed a million dishes. She and "Jr." were about the same age.1 Helen Mae "La" Melton lived in French Creek, West Virginia.2 Helen Mae Melton was adopted.3

     Brenford Benjamin "Brent" Melton married Anna Louise Samples. Brenford Benjamin "Brent" Melton was born on 24 January 1923. He was the son of Benjamin Adley "Jinks" Melton and Josie A. Hayes. Brenford Benjamin "Brent" Melton married Margaret Colgan in 1946.4 Brenford Benjamin "Brent" Melton and Margaret Colgan were divorced circa 1967.4 Brenford Benjamin "Brent" Melton died on 3 April 1972 at age 49.
     Brenford Benjamin "Brent" Melton. Brent was in the U.S. Navy on a PT boat in the South Pacific during WWII.

He had a deep bass voice, and a good sense of mechanics; was machinist mate on PT boat under the guy who wrote a book entitled "We Were Expendable". Brent had no temper and we never saw him angry.

He loved his job as a Greyhound bus driver.

Brent was 3 years old when he came to Mom (Mont Clarence and Allie). He was a little younger than Floyd and they were pals.4 Brenford Benjamin "Brent" Melton was adopted.1 He began military service on 21 December 1941 in Kanawha, West Virginia.5
