     William worked for a tannery in Upshur County, and later came to Clarksburg and worked for Owens Bottle Company as a machhine foreman, when he died of influenza in 1918. He died in October, before the armistice was signed in 1918 (World War I). Most people in West Virgnia worked for the timber companies or in the mines.3 He registered for the WWI Draft on on 12 September 1918 in Clarksburg, Harrison, West Virginia.2

    He was a member of the Church of Christ, Weirton and was retired, and was last employed by the Goodyear-Elkins Cannery in Elkins. He served in World War 1. He is survived by four daughters and one son; Surviving are Mrs. Eveyn Kirkpatrick, Georgtown, Pa., Mrs. Goldy Martin, New Cumberland, R. D. 1; Mrs Dorothy Robinson, New Cumberland R. D. 1; Mrs. Elizabeth Mazza Clarkston. One sister, Belva Parker, Akron, Ohio, also survives.
    Funeral services are incomplete and friends may call this evening at the Stewart - Turley Funeral Home in New Cumberland.

     Catherine "Kate" Mowry was born in May 1824 in Upshur, West Virginia.8,9,10,2,4,11,12,13 She was the daughter of John Mowry and Nancy Dean.7 Catherine "Kate" Mowry was born on 10 June 1824 in (West) Virginia.14,15 She married Henry Wilfong, son of Henry Wilfong [Jr.] and Mary Karahoof, on 9 September 1841 in Augusta, Virginia.16 Catherine "Kate" Mowry died on 9 August 1914 at age 90.17,14,18 She died on 23 August 1914 at age 90.15 She was buried after 23 August 1914 in Upshur, West Virginia.19,20
     She was Catherine was a housekeeper per the census in 1870 and 1880.
