    Rev. Donald's Story

The Lord has given, and the Lord has taken. Blessed be the name of the Lord!
On Monday, March 20th, 2017, the first day of spring, Rev. Donald Lowe was taken back to his Lord and Savior. He died peacefully at his home in Beckley, in his 98th year.
One of seven children, Donald Adair Lowe was born on June 12, 1918, at Dunloup in Fayette County, he was the son of James Douglas Lowe and Ethel King Lowe Lockridge. Brothers, Berkeley, Edward, Douglas, and James Dickerson Lowe and sister, Ann Conner have preceded him in death, a sister, Ruth Loving survives.
Rev. Lowe pastored Baptist churches in these communities: Maple Fork, Quinnimont, Prosperity, New Salem, Rock Camp, Gates, Broad Run, Sweet Springs, Union, and Mt. Prospect.
In the later years of his life he has been a member of the Breckinridge Missionary Baptist Church, where he taught the Fellowship Class.
"Mr. Lowe" was an industrial electricity teacher at Raleigh County Vocational Center and the owner of Lowe and Son Electrical Company. As a Master Electrician, he was a "Jack of All Trades" and a master of all he set his mind to do.
Rev. Lowe was married to the former Ruth Bocook. To this union was born four children, George, Donald Jr., Meridel and Dewey. After 62 years of marriage, his cherished wife, Ruth passed on September 27, 2002, and now, "Oh Glad Reunion." Their son, George has also preceded in death as well as a son-in-law, James Perry Jackson.
Left to cherish his memory are his surviving children, Donald A. Lowe Jr. and wife, Gloria of Newark Valley, NY, Meridel L. Jackson, of Pearisburg, VA, Pastor Dewey D. Lowe and wife, Jeanne of Beckley; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Lowe of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Rev. Lowe's legacy carries on with his grandchildren, Terry Lowe, Christine Caslin and husband Frank; Sara Porter and husband, John; Elizabeth Grant and husband, Howard; Cheryl Lambright and husband, Kerry; George Lowe Jr. and wife, Kristen; Heather Williams and husband, Jared; Travis Lowe; Carmen Boso and husband, Lee.
There are 19 great- grandchildren and five great- great- grandchildren.
On Friday, March 24th at 11 am there will be a "Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration" for Rev. Lowe's long and well lived life. Pastor Dewey Lowe and grandson, Lee Boso will be officiating. Rev. Lowe will be laid to rest beside his beloved Ruth at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 23 from 5 to 8 pm at the mortuary and one hour prior to the services on Friday.
Rev. Lowe's family would like to publicly acknowledge his wonderful sitters, Bonnie Davis, Kaye Beckleheimer, and Edna Stanford, a special thanks to the hospice staff of Hospice of Southern West Virginia who provided such comfort and care.
The family suggests donations of sympathy may be made to the Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church Roof Fund, PO Box 106, Bolt, WV 25817 or Hospice of Southern West Virginia, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.
End of Construction...Thank you Lord for your patience of 98 years!
