Some of the identifications on your photo album do not agree with what she told me. I am certain that there needs to be a correction on the one with my grandparents on it who are incorrectly identified as Charles and Elizabeth Baker in the photo album numbered photo. I believe the group photos were taken at the Teets home place in Lost River, WVA, but I do not know if the house is still there or where exactly it was. I will continue to look for it.

The other photo has all of the grandchildren included. My aunt Gladys is sitting on her mother’s lap (Cora Dellinger Teets) and my grandfather, Jacob Jackson Teets, is holding her older sister Thelma. My Aunt Gladys was born April 28, 1920 and she appears to be a few months old, so I’m thinking the photos were taken in the early fall of 1920. Her older brother, my uncle Harold, should be in the photo, but I don’t know which child he is. He was born January 11, 1914 so he should have been about 6 ½ years old in the photo. I have no idea the names of the other children in the photo.
The photo of Rachel Dellinger, Cora’s mother, shows her holding Gladys’ younger brother, Ralph Teets. He was born near Winchester, VA. (They lived in Stephens City, VA at the time of his birth. He was born March 8, 1929 and died July 30, 1959 with a heart condition due to rheumatic fever as a child. He never married and did not have children.
The other photo is of my father Cecil Jackson Teets (probably a school photo in Stephens City VA.) He was born in Lost River, WVA on Aug. 3, 1922 and died August 22, 1986 in Harrisonburg, VA. of a heart attack. He married Helen Marie Silman of Winchester on Aug. 21, 1948. They were married at the home of his sister Thelma Swadley and brother-in-law John Swadley in Hagerstown, MD. My mother, Helen Teets is still living in Harrisonburg, VA. There are 2 daughters and 3 grandsons from their marriage. Cecil Teets served in the Navy during WW II on a LST in the Pacific Ocean Campaign.
Thank you for the information your website has provided. It clarified several things for me in the photo, including my great grandmother’s maiden name [See]. I recently visited the cemetery near Lost River, WVA. (in Mathias, WVA) where she and Jacob J. Teets are buried (along with other relatives) and intend to go back to do some more research.
I will send updated photos in the future – one of Ralph and Gladys, along with photos of my father, Cecil Jackson Teets. (I have not found any photos of his brother Harold or his sister Thelma.) All of his siblings have died.

Surviving is his wife, Leona May Hamilton; one son, Donald L. Hamilton, and wife Jacqueline S. Hamilton; one daughter, Teresa L. Benishek, and husband Tod F. Benishek, all of Mathias. Also surviving are two sisters, Addie Lorenz and Agnus Strawderman, both of Mathias.
Two sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving are four daughters, Helen Teets Harman and her husband, Wayne K. Harman, of Deep Creek Lake, Md., Betty L. Combs of Moorefield, W.Va., Mary Ethel Hopkins and her husband, the Rev. Mark Hopkins, of New Freedom, Pa., and Winnie Alexopoulos of Baker, W.Va.; an extended family member, Cora "Nute" Mongold of E.A Hawse Nursing Center, Baker, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Deborah Bullock, John Hopkins, Michael Hopkins, Elizabeth Choquette, Wayne Craig Harman and Randall Combs; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Rebekah Phillips; seven brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be at the New Dale Church of the Brethren on Friday, June 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Ernest Halterman assisted by the Rev. Mark Hopkins. Interment will follow in the New Dale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville, W.Va., on Thursday, June 10, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Judy (me) married Charles Edward Sine (divorced), we had one daughter-Laura Ann Sine 9/22/1964 who married Robert Allen Dove 7/30/1965. (Married-5/21/1988). They have two daughters-Hannah Marie Dove 1/12/1992 and Rebekah Joy Dove 5/12/1994. I married Forrest Elwood Smith March 28, 1970. We have no children.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Souders of Boonesboro, Md.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The Rev. Irvin Martin Jr. will conduct the funeral 1 p.m. Friday at the McKee Funeral Home in Baker, W.Va. Burial will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Mathias, W.Va.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Some of the identifications on your photo album do not agree with what she told me. I am certain that there needs to be a correction on the one with my grandparents on it who are incorrectly identified as Charles and Elizabeth Baker in the photo album numbered photo. I believe the group photos were taken at the Teets home place in Lost River, WVA, but I do not know if the house is still there or where exactly it was. I will continue to look for it.

The other photo has all of the grandchildren included. My aunt Gladys is sitting on her mother’s lap (Cora Dellinger Teets) and my grandfather, Jacob Jackson Teets, is holding her older sister Thelma. My Aunt Gladys was born April 28, 1920 and she appears to be a few months old, so I’m thinking the photos were taken in the early fall of 1920. Her older brother, my uncle Harold, should be in the photo, but I don’t know which child he is. He was born January 11, 1914 so he should have been about 6 ½ years old in the photo. I have no idea the names of the other children in the photo.
The photo of Rachel Dellinger, Cora’s mother, shows her holding Gladys’ younger brother, Ralph Teets. He was born near Winchester, VA. (They lived in Stephens City, VA at the time of his birth. He was born March 8, 1929 and died July 30, 1959 with a heart condition due to rheumatic fever as a child. He never married and did not have children.
The other photo is of my father Cecil Jackson Teets (probably a school photo in Stephens City VA.) He was born in Lost River, WVA on Aug. 3, 1922 and died August 22, 1986 in Harrisonburg, VA. of a heart attack. He married Helen Marie Silman of Winchester on Aug. 21, 1948. They were married at the home of his sister Thelma Swadley and brother-in-law John Swadley in Hagerstown, MD. My mother, Helen Teets is still living in Harrisonburg, VA. There are 2 daughters and 3 grandsons from their marriage. Cecil Teets served in the Navy during WW II on a LST in the Pacific Ocean Campaign.
Thank you for the information your website has provided. It clarified several things for me in the photo, including my great grandmother’s maiden name [See]. I recently visited the cemetery near Lost River, WVA. (in Mathias, WVA) where she and Jacob J. Teets are buried (along with other relatives) and intend to go back to do some more research.
I will send updated photos in the future – one of Ralph and Gladys, along with photos of my father, Cecil Jackson Teets. (I have not found any photos of his brother Harold or his sister Thelma.) All of his siblings have died.

Teets.- Jessie Mae, daughter of Franklin A.and Lucy (Grady) Wilkins, was born at Mathias, W.Va., Jan. 12, 1894; died at the Skyland Terrace Nursing Home, Woodstock, Va., June 15, 1972; aged 78 y. 5 m. 3 d. On Apr. 14, 1910, she was married to Moses Teets, who preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1939. Surviving are 8 sons (Chester, Clifton, Ivan, Orville, Moses, Vane, David, and Frank), 2 daughters (Ruby-Mrs. Elmer Funk and Shirley-Mrs. Boyd Fink), 2 grandchildren who were reared in her home (Carol-Mrs. Donald Yankey and Garry Wilt), 33 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, 2 brothers(Roy and Andrew Wilkins), and one sister (Mary-Mrs. D. D. Wilkins). She was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held June 19, in charge of S. A. Shank, M. C. Showalter, and A. T. Rollins; interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mathias,W.Va.

Robert Funk, 62, of Moorefield, W.Va., died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Funk was born April 3, 1943, in Mathias, W.Va., and was the son of Elmer L. Funk of Baker, W.Va., and the late Ruby May Teets Funk.
He was a member of the Moorefield Assembly of God Church and retired from American Woodmark after 30 years of service.
In addition to his father, survivors include his wife of 38 years, Alice Virginia (Funk) Funk; a son, Bobby Funk of Arthur, W.Va.; a daughter, Crystal D. Funk of Moorefield; three brothers, Pete Funk, Gary L. Funk and Larry W. Funk, all of Baker, W.Va.; a sister, Linda Conrad of Petersburg, W.Va.; a half brother, Donald "Oss" Teets of Tulsa, Okla.; a half sister, Carol Yankey of Criders; and two grandchildren.
Pastor Ernest Halterman will conduct the funeral 1 p.m. Friday at Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Baker, W.Va.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.

Teets.- Jessie Mae, daughter of Franklin A.and Lucy (Grady) Wilkins, was born at Mathias, W.Va., Jan. 12, 1894; died at the Skyland Terrace Nursing Home, Woodstock, Va., June 15, 1972; aged 78 y. 5 m. 3 d. On Apr. 14, 1910, she was married to Moses Teets, who preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1939. Surviving are 8 sons (Chester, Clifton, Ivan, Orville, Moses, Vane, David, and Frank), 2 daughters (Ruby-Mrs. Elmer Funk and Shirley-Mrs. Boyd Fink), 2 grandchildren who were reared in her home (Carol-Mrs. Donald Yankey and Garry Wilt), 33 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, 2 brothers(Roy and Andrew Wilkins), and one sister (Mary-Mrs. D. D. Wilkins). She was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held June 19, in charge of S. A. Shank, M. C. Showalter, and A. T. Rollins; interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mathias,W.Va.
