History of Tucker Co by Hu Maxwell (Here she is known under Nelson:
"George Long, father of Abel Long, born 1796 in Pendleton County; he was raised in the town of Franklin, and his origin is Irish and French; married Winnie Nelson, who died 1844, or near that time. Their children are Abel (My Line), Absalom, William, Elizabeth and Martha. His father came to America with Lafayette, and was with him five years and seven months. George Long was in the war of 1812." - [S2564] Maureen (Day) Moore, Email to John Teets, 10/11/2010, Wilfong/Long Family

F, b. 8 December 1819, d. circa 1844
| Relationship | 2nd great-granddaughter of Johannes Wildfang [Sr.] |
Winifred "Winnie" Wilfong was born circa 1807 in Pendleton, Virginia.4,3 She was baptized on 8 December 1819 in Pendleton, Virginia; St. Michael's Lutheran-Reformed Church Pendleton County, West Virginia Records:
-"Miscellaneous -Illegitamate Births:
Baptized a child for Elisabeth Willfong (Wildfang) Dec 8, 1819" (I think this child was Winifred, who would have been about 12.3 She was the daughter of Absalom Nelson and Elizabeth Wilfong.3 Winifred "Winnie" Wilfong married George A. Long on 5 June 1825 in Pendleton, Virginia.1,2 Winifred "Winnie" Wilfong died circa 1844 in Pendleton, West Virginia.5
Winifred "Winnie" Wilfong was also known as Winnie Nelson George Long married Winnie Wilfong, not Nelson, in 1822. Subsequent research suggests that she was an eldest dau. of Absalom Nelson and Elizabeth Wilfong, who had a large illegitimate family. It can be documented that Absalom Nelson was "living in adultery" with Elizabeth Wilfong in 1814 [this is found in the same court order and adjacent to an order where Absalom Nelson's sister, Winnie [Nelson] Summerfield was identified as "living in adultery" with John Lambert]. Anyway, all this to say that George Long's wife married as Winnie Wilfong because that was her legal name [with her illegitimate mother being a Wilfong], but everyone in the community knew she was Winnie Nelson because they knew whom her father was.3 Winifred "Winnie" Wilfong was also known as Winny Long.6 St. Michael's Lutheran-Reformed Church Pendleton County, West Virginia Records:
-Note of July 22, 1821: Elisabeth Wildfang (& Esther Pufenbarger) were excluded from Church according to regulations of the Church until they atone for their deeds."3
